The senior accountant will initially be the most senior person in the local finance team in our startup of South Africa. The position will report into our Finance Manager based in Lagos, Nigeria. The senior accountant will be responsible for all financial, legal and administrative tasks of the entity which includes monthly financial group reporting, local statutory reporting, treasury, financial analysis and other related tasks. The position also requires interaction with the global shared service based in Delhi, India. Good career development plans for the right candidate.

• Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce statutory financial reports or statements
• Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and principles
• Coordinate and complete annual statutory audits
• Provide accounting and tax recommendations
• Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions
• Managing and documenting the monthly reconciliation process, ensuring all statutory accounts are accurate.

• Preparation of statutory reports and financial analyses (Transfer Pricing Report, Annual Report)
• Main owner of the monthly closing process.

• Preparation of tax return with external support if needed

• Daily cooperation with SSF department,
• Review of SSF transactions and ensuring the necessary corrections are made timely.
• Preparation and verification of all data.

• Collection and verification of data for budgeting process.

The person should have strong communication skills and be used to working in a high paced international environment

• Experience in accounting, controlling, audit or tax advisors minimum 5 years
• University degree in business/accounting
• The ability to think analytically and draw synthetic conclusions.
• Tax and accounting knowledge (IFRS preferred)
• Excellent strategic planning skills and able to interact with all levels
• Fluent English to be able to communicate daily with Shared Service Center
