Formulation Scientist – Nutritional Products
Oriflame R&D supports the development of a large portfolio of Wellbeing and Beauty products. Wellosophy, which includes nutritional and dietary supplements, is one of our strategic brands. Oriflame R&D leads the technical development of these innovative products internally globally as well as working with a network of partners in Europe.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and high performing formulator to join our team. This person will be passionate about functional food products. They will largely develop, from concept through to manufacturing, a range of ready to mix protein drink powders and other dietary supplements type products for international markets.
This role will be a key player in the NPD-process, working closely with the product development team members including Regulatory Affairs, Product Safety, Packaging, Marketing and Quality. A small amount of travel may be required.
• Work closely with Marketing and Product Development teams to establish product profiles and timing targets.
• Formulate ready to mix powder formulations (Protein drinks, Meal replacements…), protein bars and other dietary products formats, ensuring compliance with target profiles, markets and claims. This will involve working with internal factories or a network of 3rd party manufacturers (CMOs), to ensure timelines and milestones are met.
• Support the design and validation of safety, regulatory, stability, quality and claims substantiation testing plans as necessary.
• Identify, select and approve required raw materials through Oriflame’s internal approval systems
• Complete trial batches and conduct/supervise the sensory assessments when required
• Provide support to local technical representation in market worldwide on product/formula related matters
• Work with colleagues to share knowledge and ideas. Actively contribute to team activities and support other team members when necessary
• Support specific business development projects in the nutrition space.
• Degree in Food Science or similar
• Product formulation/development laboratory experience in the area of functional foods or food supplements.
• Good understanding of product development processes
• Good communication and organisational skills
• Analytically minded problem solver
• Delivers results to a consistently high standard
• Clear and confident decision-making ability
• Ability to influence around technical problems and solutions
