1) Enabling sales of Oriflame products by creating innovative communication angles, concepts and claims for new and ongoing products;
2) Investigating and presenting scientific evidence to support product claims in a novel and creative manner within the timeframes of NPD;
3) Enabling registration of products in Oriflame markets by ensuring the strongest possible claims are appropriately supported.
Manage the claims substantiation aspect of assigned NPD projects and deliver the agreed requirements of the brief:
– Ensure NPD Milestones are met in accordance with Stage and Gate timings. Highlight lateness if appropriate, with solutions to ensure timely delivery of NPD
– Suggests appropriate ingredients, including story, functional and active, to deliver product claims and story.
– Create the Product Communication Report (PCR), to communicate claims and ingredient information to marketing in a consumer friendly, coherent and where appropriate, creative manner
– Proactively work with marketing and creative teams to ensure effective catalogue execution for new product launches
– Review and approve new catalogue texts and layouts.
Analyse the claims direction in product brief and propose novel and creative wording and substantiation of claims:
– Utilise technical knowledge of active ingredients to advise R&D team on selection and usage levels to meet NPD concept briefs and product performance expectations
– Develop scientific rationales to define ways of achieving the claims of the brief in an efficient and cost-effective manner
– Contribute to R&D creative processes and development of inspiration for new claims
– Share knowledge of market trends and product claims in the cosmetic arena within team
– Keep up to date with changes in Regulation across all Oriflame markets to ensure that adequate data is available to substantiate claims
Expert knowledge on the effects of cosmetic products and actives on the skin, hair and nails:
– Build an in-depth knowledge of available active ingredients and their effectiveness on the skin, hair and nails.
– Conduct and interpret literature reviews and apply knowledge to support product claims.
– Develop a thorough understanding of skin and hair physiology, keeping up to date with relevant scientific literature and publications
– Translate physiology expertise to support and present scientific topics in a consumer understandable way
– Attend relevant cosmetic conferences and share findings with the wider R&D team
Link with Product Marketing
– Deliver relevant scientific communication materials to support product launches
– Communicate directly with Product Marketing as part of the concept creation team and provide the necessary skills and capabilities as part of the Product Design Phase.
Support Scientific Communication Initiatives:
– Work under the remit of the R&D Scientific Communication initiative to create and update R&D information on Oriflame’s communication channels
